Questions.
What size is a YouTube banner?
2560 × 1440 pixels (16:9) is the size YouTube recommends, especially for TV. It takes 2048 × 1152 at least, in a file of 6 MB or smaller.
What is the YouTube banner safe area?
The middle 1235 × 338 pixels of a 2048 × 1152 banner (about 1544 × 423 of a 2560 × 1440 one). YouTube asks you to keep text and logos there, because each screen crops the banner differently.
How much of the banner does a computer or a phone show?
A band across the middle. On November 2, 2026, YouTube’s channel pages on a computer and in a phone’s browser showed the full width and the middle 413 of 1440 pixels height, in a box 6.2 times as wide as tall. A TV shows the whole banner.
Why is my YouTube banner cut off?
Because only a TV shows the whole 16:9 image. Computers and phones show the band across the middle, so anything above or below it is cut. Keep it inside the safe area.
Where do these numbers come from?
The sizes and the safe area are from YouTube’s Help Center page Manage your channel branding, checked on November 2, 2026. The band is what YouTube’s own channel pages showed on a computer and a phone that day.
