Flaghand vs AuthoredUp for writing and scheduling LinkedIn posts

AuthoredUp is a LinkedIn writing and analytics tool that works inside LinkedIn through a Chrome extension and on its own web platform: text styling, feed previews, hook libraries, a calendar and detailed post analytics. Its API and MCP let an AI assistant read your data and write drafts. Flaghand is a publishing desk for your own drafting agent: the agent prepares the posts, and they go out only after you approve the exact post with your passkey.

The short answer

Where AuthoredUp is better

Your own agent: both have an MCP

AuthoredUp's MCP server connects Claude, Claude Code, ChatGPT, Codex and other clients through an OAuth sign-in, and offers everything its API does: your posts with their statistics, saved posts, profile and company history, and draft management. A personal API key is available on every plan, trial included. Since July 20, 2026 the API can create and update drafts with styled text, @-mentions, tags, the profile or company that should post it, and a planned publish time. Its specification says those drafts can't carry media attachments, and that the draft tools don't publish or schedule anything on LinkedIn. The API allows 100 requests an hour per user.

So in AuthoredUp an assistant prepares and a person publishes: you open the draft in the editor and post or schedule it yourself. Its scheduling help article (updated January 31, 2025) says AuthoredUp has no scheduler of its own. It uses LinkedIn's native scheduling, which LinkedIn has to have turned on for your account, at least 30 minutes ahead, and not every attachment type can be scheduled. Its pricing page says scheduling runs through the extension.

Flaghand splits the work the other way. Your agent drafts, uploads photos, video or a PDF document, checks the posts and sends you a plan; once you approve it, Flaghand's own scheduler posts each part at its time. No API token scope can approve, schedule or post, on any plan. Those routes refuse every token and accept only an owner signed in with a passkey. Apps connected to Flaghand's MCP server by OAuth receive read, drafts, media and request-approval: enough to prepare a plan and ask you to review it, not to make it live. Its API, OpenAPI spec and MCP tool reference are public.

What you approve in Flaghand

Your agent checks the drafts and sends you one approval request in the desk. Approving freezes each post into a snapshot: the account, time, text, media, alt text and exact publishing request. Flaghand hashes it with SHA-256 and records your passkey signature over the hash. Changing the text, media, account or time needs a new approval, and the scheduler checks the signed snapshot again right before posting.

Flaghand's check flags anything that wouldn't post exactly as previewed. This is a publishing check, not a promise that the writing will perform well. If you format posts by hand, Formatting a LinkedIn post covers line breaks, bold and italic Unicode letters, lists, hashtags, mentions and where "see more" cuts a post. Flaghand's free LinkedIn text formatter and post previewer work without an account; the previewer shows desktop or phone, light or dark.

After it posts

Flaghand reads each X post back and compares it with what you approved: normalized text, author, hidden reply mentions, media count, available alt text, reply chain and quote. It doesn't verify link destinations or media-file bytes, and LinkedIn posts aren't read back. AuthoredUp's analytics measure how your LinkedIn posts perform; Flaghand's X check shouldn't be mistaken for a LinkedIn feature.

TikTok slideshows

Through Flaghand's slideshow API, an agent lays out a TikTok photo slideshow: photos, text and styles, slide by slide. One renderer draws it for the preview you approve and for the images TikTok receives, pixel for pixel, and approval covers the render hash. The free TikTok slideshow maker uses the same renderer. TikTok is still reviewing Flaghand: Flaghand and TikTok says what you can post until it finishes. This isn't a reason to replace AuthoredUp if LinkedIn writing and analytics are what you need.

Bringing your drafts

AuthoredUp's API lists your drafts as JSON, and its analytics export to CSV. If you save the posts you want to keep as CSV or JSON, Flaghand's migration recipe describes its generic import format. The import creates drafts, with old times as proposed times: it doesn't approve or schedule them, and it doesn't cancel anything already scheduled in LinkedIn. This is a file-based recipe, not a one-click AuthoredUp migration.
