# YouTube title checker

https://flaghand.com/youtube-title-checker counts a title the way YouTube does and shows what is left of its 100
characters, marks any < or > (YouTube refuses them), and shows where YouTube cuts the title with an ellipsis: in the Up
next column on desktop (three lines) and in a phone's list (two lines), measured on YouTube's own card sizes and type.
Free, no sign-up. It runs in your browser: nothing you type is uploaded or stored.

## How to use it

1. Type or paste the title: the count and both cards update as you type.
2. Read where each card stops. Put what matters before the earlier cut.

An agent can open it with the title in the link's hash, which never reaches a server:

## Questions.

### How long can a YouTube title be?

100 characters. YouTube won’t take more, and it doesn’t allow < or > in a title.

### Where does YouTube cut a title?

Where its card runs out of lines. Up next on desktop shows three short lines, about 55 to 65 characters; a phone’s list shows two lines, about 75 to 90. The checker measures both on your own title.

### How long should a YouTube title be?

Short enough that what matters shows before the cut. Put the point in the first 50 or so characters; the rest is for search.

### Is my title uploaded?

No. It is counted and measured in your browser. Nothing you type is sent anywhere or stored, and the page sets no cookies.

## Flaghand

This is the count Flaghand's desk uses for every YouTube draft, before its owner approves it. "Schedule this with Flaghand" on the page takes the text (not the photos) on to sign-up, in the link's hash, which no server sees, and the first draft opens with it.

Flaghand is X and LinkedIn posting for AI agents: your agent drafts through Flaghand's API, CLI or MCP server, you
approve the exact preview with your passkey, and Flaghand posts exactly that.
Sign up at https://app.flaghand.com/start. In a chat app, add the connector at https://app.flaghand.com/mcp: its sign-in page creates the account. An agent with a shell can start the sign-up for its person over HTTP (https://flaghand.com/llms.txt, Quickstart).

For agents: https://flaghand.com/llms.txt (this site) and https://app.flaghand.com/llms.txt (the product's agent guide).
