# Video to GIF converter

https://flaghand.com/video-to-gif turns a video (MP4, MOV, WebM: any the browser plays) into an animated GIF: the part you
pick, 320, 480 or 640 pixels wide, at 10, 15 or 24 frames a second, each frame with its own 256 colours, looping. It
checks the GIF against X's limits (15 MB; 1280 × 1080 and 350 frames or fewer, from X's media best practices,
https://docs.x.com/x-api/media/quickstart/best-practices) and LinkedIn's (250 frames, under 36,152,320 pixels, from its
Images API), checked on November 3, 2026. A GIF has no sound. Free, no sign-up. It runs in your browser: nothing you type or add is uploaded or stored, and there is no API.

## How to use it

1. Drop or choose a video. The first five seconds become a GIF, 480 wide at 15 frames a second.
2. Change the start, length, width or frame rate, and it is made again.
3. Download the GIF.

An agent can preset the choices in the link's hash, which never reaches a server (the video itself can't travel in a link):

## Questions.

### How do I turn a video into a GIF?

Drop the video on the page, or choose it. The first five seconds become a GIF at once; change the start, length, width or frame rate and it is made again. Then choose Download GIF.

### Is my video uploaded?

No. The GIF is made in your browser, frame by frame. The video is not sent anywhere or stored, and the page sets no cookies.

### How big can a GIF be on X?

15 MB. X’s media best practices add that a GIF does best at 1280 × 1080 or smaller and 350 frames or fewer, and one GIF goes in a post.

### Does LinkedIn take GIFs?

Yes. LinkedIn’s Images API takes a GIF of up to 250 frames, under 36,152,320 pixels.

### Why is my GIF so big?

A GIF keeps every frame as a picture of up to 256 colours, with none of a video’s compression. A shorter clip, fewer frames a second or a narrower width makes it smaller.

### Does a GIF have sound?

No. A GIF is pictures only, so the video’s sound is left out.

### Which videos work?

Any video your browser can play, usually MP4, MOV and WebM. If it can’t play one, the page says so.

To post the video itself, check it first in the [video checker](https://flaghand.com/video-checker). Every network’s photo and GIF sizes are in the [social media image sizes guide](https://flaghand.com/docs/guides/social-media-image-sizes), and video sizes in [video specs for TikTok, X and LinkedIn](https://flaghand.com/docs/guides/video-specs-tiktok-x-linkedin).

## Flaghand

Flaghand checks a post's photos and video against each network before its owner approves it.

Flaghand is X and LinkedIn posting for AI agents: your agent drafts through Flaghand's API, CLI or MCP server, you
approve the exact preview with your passkey, and Flaghand posts exactly that.
Sign up at https://app.flaghand.com/start. In a chat app, add the connector at https://app.flaghand.com/mcp: its sign-in page creates the account. An agent with a shell can start the sign-up for its person over HTTP (https://flaghand.com/llms.txt, Quickstart).

For agents: https://flaghand.com/llms.txt (this site) and https://app.flaghand.com/llms.txt (the product's agent guide).
