Italic text generator

Italic text you can copy and paste.

Free. No sign-up. Nothing leaves your browser.

Screen readers may skip these letters or read them out one by one, and search may not find them. Style a few words, not whole posts.

Questions.

How does an italic text generator work?

Unicode has a second alphabet of italic letters, made for mathematics. The generator swaps each letter of your text for its italic twin. They are characters, not formatting, so they stay italic where you paste them: a post on X or LinkedIn, a bio, a message. Most phones and computers draw them.

Which characters turn italic?

A to Z and a to z. Digits have no italic twin, so they stay plain (in bold italic they turn bold). Accented letters, other alphabets, punctuation and emoji stay as you typed them.

Can screen readers read italic Unicode text?

Not always. Screen readers may skip these letters, spell them out one by one or read their Unicode names, and search may not match them to the plain words. Use italics for a few words, not whole posts, and keep names, @handles, hashtags and links plain.

Do italic letters count more on X and LinkedIn?

Yes. Each italic letter counts 2 characters on X and on LinkedIn, so an italic sentence takes twice the room.

Is my text uploaded?

No. It is changed in your browser. Nothing you type is sent anywhere or stored, and the page sets no cookies.

To style only some words of a post and see it as each site draws it, use the X text formatter or the LinkedIn text formatter.
