# How ChatGPT or Codex can schedule LinkedIn posts for you

ChatGPT and Codex write LinkedIn posts well, but neither can post on a timer by itself: each needs a scheduler it can
reach over MCP. Connect Flaghand, and either one drafts your LinkedIn and X posts with the times they should go out.
Flaghand checks each against LinkedIn's and X's rules and sends you one approval link. You approve the exact posts and
times with your passkey, and Flaghand posts each one at its time, with ChatGPT or Codex closed.

**Which to use:** ChatGPT can add Flaghand on the **Business** and **Enterprise/Edu** plans, where OpenAI allows custom
MCP servers that write. On Plus or Pro, use **Codex**, which comes with ChatGPT Plus, Pro, Business, Edu and Enterprise
and adds MCP servers from its own settings.

Checked on November 3, 2026, against OpenAI's Codex docs and Flaghand's docs, linked under [Sources](#sources).

## In ChatGPT (Business, Enterprise or Edu)

1. **Add Flaghand once.** On chatgpt.com, open **Plugins**, click **+**, then **Add custom MCP server**, enter
`https://app.flaghand.com/mcp` with OAuth, and sign in to Flaghand. In a Business workspace an admin or owner creates the plugin
and members install it. [Connect LinkedIn to ChatGPT](/docs/guides/connect-linkedin-and-x-to-chatgpt) has every
   step and screen.
2. **Connect LinkedIn and X in Flaghand** under **Settings › Account**. Each network shows its own sign-in; Flaghand
never asks for your LinkedIn password.
3. **Ask for the posts and times.** Start a chat, type **@**, pick Flaghand and try:

   > Draft three LinkedIn posts from these notes for next Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 9 AM my time, and send them
   > to me for approval.

ChatGPT may ask you to confirm before it calls a tool. That lets it save drafts or ask for your approval; it isn't the
approval to post.

## In Codex (Plus, Pro and up)

1. **Add Flaghand once.** Ask Codex: "Set up Flaghand for me from https://app.flaghand.com/docs/setup.md." It signs you up over
Flaghand's API in the same session and hands you only the links that need you. Or run
`codex mcp add flaghand --url https://app.flaghand.com/mcp` and sign in. The Codex CLI, the IDE extension and Codex in the ChatGPT
desktop app share that setting on one computer. [Connect LinkedIn and X to
   Codex](/docs/guides/connect-linkedin-and-x-to-codex) has the details.
2. **Ask for the posts and times:**

   > Use Flaghand: draft a LinkedIn post and an X thread about what I shipped this week, from the git log. Put the
   > LinkedIn post on Tuesday at 10 AM and the thread on Wednesday at 9 AM, my time, and send them to me for approval.

## Then you approve, and Flaghand posts

Whichever you use, the rest is the same:

- **Flaghand checks every post first:** LinkedIn's 3,000 characters, X's own character count, the media and the time.
Anything that wouldn't post comes back to ChatGPT or Codex to fix before you see it.
- **You approve once for the plan.** Open the approval link on your phone or computer. Each post is drawn the way
LinkedIn or X will show it, with its account and time. One tap of Face ID, Touch ID or a security key approves them
all. To change something, tap **Send back** with a note; the agent revises and asks again.
- **Flaghand posts at each time** from its own servers, up to 90 days ahead. Afterwards ChatGPT or Codex can read the
result and give you each post's link.

No time in mind? Ask for your best times ("When should I post on LinkedIn this week?") or set weekly slots ("Post my
LinkedIn drafts in my Tuesday and Thursday 9 AM slots"). LinkedIn's best times come from published research; X's are
learned from your own account's posts.

## Questions

**Can ChatGPT post to LinkedIn by itself?** No. ChatGPT writes the text; a connected tool has to send it. Through
Flaghand, ChatGPT drafts and asks for your approval, and Flaghand posts once you approve.

**Can ChatGPT schedule LinkedIn posts on the Plus plan?** Not through ChatGPT's own Plugins: OpenAI allows custom MCP
servers that write only on Business and Enterprise/Edu. On Plus, Codex can add Flaghand and schedule the same posts.

**Does ChatGPT or Codex need to stay open until the post goes out?** No. Flaghand posts each approved post at its time
from its own servers.

**Can Codex or ChatGPT post without my approval?** No. Approving takes your passkey, and no Flaghand token can approve,
schedule or post. The server checks your signed approval again right before it posts.

**Can it post to a LinkedIn company page?** No. Flaghand posts to your personal LinkedIn profile, through LinkedIn's
official API.
