# Flaghand vs Metricool for people and agents

Metricool is a better fit if you want social analytics, reports and broad network management alongside scheduling.
Flaghand is a narrower publishing desk: your agent prepares the work, but only you can authorize what goes out.
Both offer MCP. The choice is about the job you need done and the authority the connected agent receives.

## The short answer

- **Choose Metricool** to understand performance across networks, report to clients, monitor competitors, combine
organic and advertising analytics, or have an agent work with those measurements and your publishing queue.
- **Choose Flaghand** when your own agent already writes and the priority is to keep that agent from authorizing
publication. The server requires an owner's passkey over the exact posting snapshot.

## Where Metricool is better

- **Analytics is a central workflow.** Metricool combines network performance, competitor monitoring and advertising
data, with reports on paid plans and deeper reporting/integrations on higher plans. Its MCP exposes account and post
metrics, competitor data and campaign information. Flaghand's limited X read-back is not a cross-network analytics suite.
- **More connected networks.** Its plan comparison lists Facebook, Instagram, Threads, Bluesky, Pinterest, TikTok,
  YouTube, Twitch and Google Business Profile, plus website/blog and advertising connections. LinkedIn needs a paid plan;
X needs a paid plan and its add-on. A connection in an analytics product doesn't mean every network supports every
publishing format, metric or inbox action. Flaghand focuses on X and LinkedIn personal profiles, not that breadth.
- **A free starting point.** Metricool Free includes one brand, 20 scheduled posts a month, five competitor profiles and
30 days of analytics. It excludes LinkedIn and X, reports and the post approval system. Its MCP is available on Free,
within the plan's limits; you don't have to buy Advanced just to use MCP.
- **Team and client review.** Advanced and Custom include team/client management, roles and the post approval system.
Reviewers can accept or request changes before approved posts publish at their scheduled time.

## Pricing and access

The following are Metricool's displayed US-dollar plan options. Annual figures are monthly equivalents **billed
annually**, not a month-to-month subscription at that price. Prices exclude applicable VAT.

| Plan | Brands | Monthly billing | Annual-billing equivalent |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free | 1 | $0 | $0 |
| Starter | 5 or 10 | From $25 a month for 5 | From $20 a month for 5 |
| Advanced | 15, 25 or 50 | From $67 a month for 15 | From $53 a month for 15 |
| Custom | Custom; comparison lists more than 50 | Individually quoted | Individually quoted |

Larger brand options cost more. A brand groups one profile per social network or advertising platform; it is not a
team seat. Each Google Business Profile location needs its own brand. X is an additional **$10 a month per connected
account** in the dollar pricing view, on top of a paid plan. Other currency options are available; check the selected
currency and billing period rather than comparing an annual headline with a monthly bill.

Direct Metricool API access, including the listed Zapier/Make integrations, starts at Advanced and is inherited by
Custom. MCP is separately available across plans, including Free. Starter does not include the post approval system;
Advanced and Custom do. Those distinctions matter more than a generic claim that a product has an API or approvals.

Flaghand is in early access and public sign-up isn't open yet. This guide doesn't quote a Flaghand price;
[Get access to Flaghand](/schedule) is its current entry point. Don't choose a narrower approval desk to replace
reports, agency administration or ad analytics that your work depends on.

## API and agent access

Metricool's official hosted MCP endpoint is `https://ai.metricool.com/mcp`. Its docs describe browser OAuth or
`METRICOOL_USER_TOKEN` with `METRICOOL_USER_ID`, and connections from clients including Claude, ChatGPT, Claude Code,
Cursor and Gemini CLI. Agents can retrieve metrics and queued posts, publish immediately, schedule future posts and
change queued text, timing or destinations. Existing account permissions and plan limits apply. Metricool is not just
a human-only scheduler, and its MCP is not merely an analytics reader.

Flaghand's [live OpenAPI spec](https://app.flaghand.com/api/v1/openapi.json) and
[agent documentation](https://app.flaghand.com/docs/agents) describe a deliberately narrower posting contract:

1. Upload media and call `createDraft`; `post_at` proposes a time, not a scheduled job.
2. Run `checkDraft` on that revision to identify what would stop it posting as previewed.
3. Call `requestApproval`. The owner reviews and approves inside Flaghand.
4. Read jobs and use `verifyJob` for the available live check. An approval request is not a successful publication.

Flaghand OAuth MCP connectors receive `read`, `drafts`, `media` and `request-approval`. No API token can approve,
schedule or post. The difference is credential authority, not whether either product supports Bearer authentication or MCP.

## What approval means

Metricool's approval workflow lets a team request review from customers or collaborators, receive acceptance or changes,
and automatically publish approved posts at the scheduled time. Its cited MCP pages say account permissions apply, but
don't establish how that workflow constrains every MCP publishing tool. We have not tested that boundary. Don't assume
it has no approvals, and don't assume an MCP credential is incapable of publication simply because approvals are available
on the plan.

Flaghand freezes the account, time, text, media, alt text and outgoing request into a snapshot. It hashes that snapshot
with SHA-256 and records your passkey signature over the hash. Changing the posting content, account or time needs a new
approval, and the scheduler checks the signed snapshot again just before posting. Its X and LinkedIn previews are drawn
to match the real sites. That mandatory owner step is useful if you want an agent to prepare work without publishing
authority; it is friction if you want fully unattended publishing.

After publication, Flaghand compares available X text, author, reply chain, media count and alt text with the approval.
It doesn't verify link destinations or media-file identity, and it has no LinkedIn read-back. Metricool's performance
measurements answer a different question: how content performed, not whether it matches a passkey-signed snapshot.

## TikTok slideshows

Flaghand's [slideshow API](https://app.flaghand.com/docs/slideshows) and free [TikTok slideshow maker](/tiktok-slideshow-maker) use the
same renderer for the preview and output images; approval covers the render hash. [Flaghand and TikTok](/tiktok)
explains its current posting availability during TikTok's review. Metricool lists TikTok among its connected networks;
check its format-specific support if photo slideshows are your deciding requirement.

## Side by side

| | Metricool | Flaghand |
|---|---|---|
| Core fit | Analytics, reporting and multi-network social management | Publishing desk for a person and their agents |
| Free plan | One brand, with posting/analytics limits; no LinkedIn or X | Early access; public sign-up not open yet |
| Networks | Broader; LinkedIn paid, X paid plus add-on | X and LinkedIn personal profiles; TikTok subject to review |
| Agent access | MCP across plans; direct API on Advanced/Custom | API and OAuth MCP for drafts, checks and approval requests |
| Approval boundary | Review workflow on Advanced/Custom; MCP enforcement not established by cited pages | Owner's passkey over exact snapshot; tokens cannot approve |
| Stronger reason to choose it | Performance insights, reports, competitors and client work | Keep publishing authority out of the agent credential |
