# Flaghand vs Late for agents and apps

Looking at Late at `getlate.dev`? On October 26, 2026, `getlate.dev`, its pricing page and `docs.getlate.dev` redirect to
Zernio. This guide uses the current pricing and documentation reached from those addresses, not an old Late plan table.
Below, “Late/Zernio” means that current service.

Both it and Flaghand expose social publishing through an API. Late/Zernio lets a backend schedule a post with an API
key. Flaghand lets an agent prepare posts and ask for approval, but only a workspace owner can authorize publishing
with a passkey. That boundary, not whether a product has an API, is the deciding difference.

Every Late/Zernio fact here comes from its own [pricing page](https://zernio.com/pricing),
[quickstart](https://docs.zernio.com/quickstart), [API reference](https://docs.zernio.com/api-reference) and
[platform comparison](https://docs.zernio.com/platforms/compare), read on October 26, 2026.
The old [Late pricing address](https://getlate.dev/pricing) redirects to that pricing page. Recheck the current pages
before choosing; old articles may describe different plans.

## The short answer

- **Choose Late/Zernio** for more networks, free connected accounts, or an API key that can schedule posts from your app
without a required owner approval for each one.
- **Choose Flaghand** when an agent drafts for a person who must approve exactly what goes live, and you want that rule
enforced by the server rather than by your agent's instructions.

## Where Late/Zernio is better

- **Broader social publishing.** Its current platform comparison covers Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, Pinterest, Threads
and Bluesky, alongside X, LinkedIn, TikTok and Google Business Profile. Flaghand posts to X and LinkedIn personal
profiles; its TikTok posting is subject to TikTok's review. Flaghand isn't a replacement for all those destinations.
- **A simpler unattended integration.** Generate an API key, connect an account, then send a Bearer-authenticated request
  to `https://zernio.com/api/v1/posts`. Its quickstart schedules with `scheduledFor`, `timezone` and a `platforms` array
containing a platform and `accountId`. It doesn't require a passkey ceremony for each post.
- **A free starting point.** The first two connected accounts are free, with no credit card required and unlimited
posts. Each network account counts separately: one customer's Instagram and TikTok are two, not one.
- **More beyond publishing.** Current pricing includes analytics and webhooks. These can be useful when you're building
  a multi-network product; Flaghand's limited X read-back check isn't a multi-network performance report.

Check feature-level availability, not just logos. The current platform comparison explicitly says Reddit publishing is
temporarily unavailable and Snapchat is in a closed beta. A directory of integrations isn't a promise that every
network supports every operation today.

## Pricing and access

The current pricing page says “no plans, no seats.” Connected accounts 1–2 are free, accounts 3–10 cost $6 each per
month, accounts 11–100 cost $3 each, and accounts 101 onward cost $1 each. These are graduated bands: its 100-account
example totals $318 a month, not $100. Connections are measured daily, with partial-period adjustments when accounts
are added or removed. The page lists monthly usage pricing rather than an annual subscription table.

Unlimited posts doesn't mean every operation is free. X API usage has separate charges; X analytics and inbox sync are
opt-in paid usage. Other messaging and advertising services have their own billing details. Price the operations you
actually need from the current page, not just the connected-account line.

Flaghand is in early access and public sign-up isn't open yet. This guide doesn't quote a Flaghand price;
[Get access to Flaghand](/schedule) is its current entry point.

## Who can publish

Late/Zernio's quickstart has the account owner authorize a social connection in the browser, then the API key schedules
a post. That connection consent is not per-post approval. The documented scheduling flow needs no later owner sign-off
over that post's text, media and time. This is useful if publishing authority belongs in your application.

Flaghand uses a Bearer token too, but no token scope grants approval, scheduling, posting or connecting social accounts.
OAuth MCP connectors get `read`, `drafts`, `media` and `request-approval`. The owner connects their accounts and approves
in Flaghand. You can't turn its agent credential into a fully autonomous publisher by adding a scope.

This isn't a claim that API-key publishing is inherently wrong, or that Late/Zernio has no review features anywhere.
It means the cited API quickstart can schedule without the per-post owner boundary that Flaghand requires.

## What you integrate

Flaghand's [live OpenAPI spec](https://app.flaghand.com/api/v1/openapi.json) describes `createDraft`, `checkDraft`, `requestApproval`,
`listJobs` and `verifyJob`. Your integration uploads media, saves a draft, checks the revision and creates an approval
request. A proposed `post_at` doesn't schedule a job. A passing check and an approval request aren't permission to post.
The owner reviews and approves inside Flaghand; your app then reads the job and its available live check.

With Late/Zernio, your integration can instead submit the account IDs, content and schedule directly to the posts API,
then read the returned post ID or receive webhooks for its progress. Its quickstart describes the lifecycle as
`scheduled` → `publishing` → `published`. Track the final outcome, not just request acceptance.

## What you approve

In Flaghand, approval freezes the account, time, text, media, alt text and outgoing request into a snapshot. It hashes
that snapshot with SHA-256 and records your passkey signature over the hash. Changing the posting content, account or
time needs a new approval. The scheduler checks it again just before posting. Its previews draw X and LinkedIn posts to
match the real sites, and a check flags what wouldn't post as previewed.

The cited Late/Zernio scheduling flow doesn't require this signed snapshot. Choose Flaghand's extra step if your person
needs that control; choose the direct API model if an unattended backend is the job.

## After it posts

Flaghand reads each X post back and compares normalized text, author, hidden reply mentions, media count, available alt
text, reply chain and quote with the approval. It doesn't verify link destinations or media-file identity, and it has
no LinkedIn read-back. Late/Zernio documents post status and webhooks, with analytics included in current pricing;
those sources don't describe Flaghand's approval-snapshot comparison. A published status and a content comparison
answer different questions.

## TikTok slideshows

Through Flaghand's [slideshow API](https://app.flaghand.com/docs/slideshows), an agent lays out photos and text slide by slide. One
renderer draws it for the preview you approve and for the images TikTok receives; approval covers the render hash.
The free [TikTok slideshow maker](/tiktok-slideshow-maker) uses the same renderer.
[Flaghand and TikTok](/tiktok) explains current posting availability during TikTok's review. Don't infer general TikTok
posting availability just because the slideshow API exists.
