# Connect LinkedIn to ChatGPT: a LinkedIn and X MCP plugin

To connect LinkedIn and X to ChatGPT, add Flaghand's MCP server, `https://app.flaghand.com/mcp`, under **Plugins › + › Add custom
MCP server** on ChatGPT's website and sign in. ChatGPT can then draft LinkedIn and X posts and send them to you for
approval. You approve each exact post with your passkey, and Flaghand posts it. Today this works on ChatGPT
**Business** and **Enterprise/Edu**: OpenAI's help says full custom MCP is only on those plans.

Checked on October 28, 2026, against OpenAI's help center and Flaghand's setup docs, linked under [Sources](#sources).

## Which ChatGPT plans can add it

| Plan | Can it add Flaghand and draft posts? |
|---|---|
| Business | Yes, on the web. Only workspace admins and owners can create and publish the plugin |
| Enterprise and Edu | Yes, on the web. Admins and owners, or members an admin grants it to |
| Pro | No. OpenAI's help limits Pro to read and fetch tools, and drafting is a write |
| Plus, Go and Free | No. OpenAI's help doesn't offer custom MCP servers on these plans |

On Plus or Pro, you can still use Flaghand from [Claude](/docs/guides/connect-linkedin-and-x-to-claude), whose free
plan allows one custom connector, or from [Codex](/docs/guides/connect-linkedin-and-x-to-codex).

## Connect it in six steps

1. **Add the server.** On chatgpt.com, open **Plugins**, click **+**, then **Add custom MCP server**. You don't need
Developer Mode. Name it Flaghand and enter `https://app.flaghand.com/mcp` under **Connection**.
2. **Choose OAuth.** Set authentication to **OAuth**. If ChatGPT offers a choice of client registration, either works;
there's no client ID or secret to make.
3. **Create it.** Tick **I understand and want to continue** under the risk notice, then click **Create as a plugin**,
and install it. In a Business workspace, an admin or owner creates and publishes it, and members install it.
4. **Sign in to Flaghand.** When ChatGPT opens Flaghand's sign-in, sign in with your passkey, Google or email and click
**Allow** (pick the workspace first if you have more than one). No account yet? Use the sign-up
link on that page, **Start your free trial**, to create one with a passkey, Google or email, without a card, then
return and click **Allow**. There's no separate site sign-up to do first. ChatGPT then lists Flaghand's tools.
5. **Connect your social accounts.** In Flaghand, connect your LinkedIn profile and X account under **Settings › Account**.
Each network shows its own sign-in; Flaghand never asks for your LinkedIn password or browser cookies.
6. **Ask for a post.** Start a new chat, type **@**, pick Flaghand and try:

   > Draft a LinkedIn post about what our team shipped this week, and send it to me for approval.

ChatGPT writes the post, Flaghand checks it against LinkedIn's rules, and ChatGPT gives you an approval link. Open it
on your phone or computer, look at the post as LinkedIn will show it, and approve with Face ID, Touch ID or a security
key. Nothing posts until you do.

ChatGPT may ask you to confirm before it calls a tool. That confirmation lets ChatGPT save a draft or ask for your
approval; it isn't the approval to post, which only your passkey gives.

## What ChatGPT can and can't do through Flaghand

| | LinkedIn | X (Twitter) |
|---|---|---|
| Draft | Posts on your personal profile, up to 3,000 characters, with up to 20 photos, one video, one PDF document or a link card | Posts and threads of 2 to 25 posts, with up to 4 photos or one video on each |
| Check | Length, media, company-page tags and the posting time | X's own character count, media, replies and the posting time |
| Approve, schedule or post | No. Only you, with your passkey | No. Only you, with your passkey |
| After posting | The post's link. LinkedIn doesn't let Flaghand read the post back | Flaghand reads the post back and compares it with what you approved |

ChatGPT's Flaghand token has four scopes: `read`, `drafts`, `media` and `request-approval`. None of them can approve,
schedule or post. Flaghand posts to LinkedIn only through LinkedIn's official API, only to your personal profile, and
doesn't read profiles, your feed, messages or jobs.

## Questions

**Is there an official LinkedIn plugin for ChatGPT?** Yes: LinkedIn's own plugin looks up professionals and shows
their title, company, location and follower count. It doesn't draft or publish your posts. For that, add a posting MCP
server such as Flaghand, as above, or see [the best LinkedIn MCP servers, compared](/docs/guides/best-linkedin-mcp-servers).

**Can ChatGPT post to LinkedIn by itself?** No. ChatGPT writes the text; a connected tool has to send it. Through
Flaghand, ChatGPT drafts and asks for your approval, and Flaghand posts once you approve.

**Can I add it on Plus?** Not today. OpenAI's help offers custom MCP servers with write tools only on Business and
Enterprise/Edu, and read and fetch tools on Pro.

**Can I connect it in the ChatGPT phone app?** Add it on the web. OpenAI's help says custom MCP servers are connected
on the web only.

**What if Flaghand adds tools later?** ChatGPT keeps the tool list it saw when the plugin was published. An admin
refreshes it from the workspace's app settings.

**How do I take ChatGPT's access away?** In Flaghand, open **Settings › Agents** and click **Revoke** next to
ChatGPT's connection. It stops working at once.
